As I find myself having difficulty having clarity on a topic tonight, I settled myself to tune into listening to God’s guidance. I have several things that I want to share or talk about, but the flow hasn’t happened yet. So I’m practicing what I preach. I took a step back, enjoyed my breath, asked Him for his guidance, and waited. The title, Listen from Love, is what came to me.

Let’s see what happens next.

Listening is a skill that seems all too lacking in today’s society, and probably every society. When we get wrapped up in trying to fulfill our needs, whether they be current or all the way back from (unfulfilled) childhood, we have a blockage to our listen potential. We become “out there” instead of centered within ourselves. True listening skills come from a place of desire. We have to want to listen. We have to want to hear. If our subconscious is dealing “Me, me, me…I need, I want…”, then that’s the channel it’s going to be tuned into. Listening skills are like going to a symphony. We can tune into the winds, the percussions, the strings, and to each individual instrument as well. However, we don’t get the full picture until we open ourselves to listening to it all.

Opening ourselves to listen to God sounds easy, but not necessarily. I know that I had a period where I struggled with the “I’m not worthy,” garbage. So how was I to truly open myself to hearing and listening to what God’s messages would be to me? I might be faced with Him revealing to me that my negative thoughts about myself were true. So I kept myself some protective layers to keep from hearing too clearly. But I kept praying for truth, strength, and to know our Lord. And He granted it. Slowly and surely, the layers peeled off and I became more and more confident in truly listening. Of course, the negative thoughts that I had about myself were untrue. They were only my perceptions that I let myself believe.

God listened to me and my prayers with all His heart. He listened and still listens from the Love that He Is. I have been saved by His Love. Jesus saved us with His Love. All things heal with Love. How empowered can we truly be then if we listen (and act) from a place of love? Real love. No conditions, but the kind of love where what matters is being there for another person according to how and what that person needs, as opposed to what we may want for them. I’m talking about love that is within us as graced us by His Spirit within us.

Listening from love is how miracles happen.

Blessings,

Irene
