What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?
Health is within you. Allow yourself Its experience.
The Craniosacral System
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy helps you get to the root of the problem, and helps you let go of it, so that the problems attached to it decrease or go away. The craniosacral system is the fluid and membraneous system that houses the brain and spinal cord all the way down to the pelvis. As such it is a whole body therapy, addressing the connections of mind, body, and spirit, according to what your system needs at the time of therapy. The craniosacral system is the container for the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) which cushions, feeds, and eliminates waste for the brain and nerves. The membrane that holds the CSF continues down the spine all the way to the tailbone, and is circulated. When circulation is impaired, numerous disturbances can occur. Some examples are headaches, migraines, hormonal problems, nervous system disorders, problems with the senses, back problems, and learning problems to name a few.
The CSF is similar to the ocean. The waves move in and out constantly purifying the ocean and its shores, and keeping itself beautiful. And that is similar to how the CSF works for us; it uses its wave-like motions to keep our systems always working towards beautiful Health.
Stress and Trauma
The Penguin Medical Dictionary defines stress as “any influence which disturbs the natural equilibrium of the body”. Within the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) in the brain are primary regulators designed to handle the effects of stress and/or trauma. Trauma is a more severe form of stress and can occur as a single event or as a series of experiences. Unresolved trauma may lead to a variety of clinical symptoms. Symptoms that can develop over time from the unresolved trauma may include but are not limited to asthma, digestive disturbances, headaches, jaw tension, chronic fatigue, back pain, and hormonal imbalances. Craniosacral Therapy is effective for discharging and resetting the brains ability to handle stress and/or trauma.
The craniosacral technique is very gentle. You remain fully clothed as you rest on the table in what ever restful position if comfortable for you. Most people begin on their backs, but you may at any time shift to your side or even your stomach. You body will set the pace of work, and its priorities, so that you remain comfortable, in control, and able to integrate the changes that occur. My job is that of facilitator.
“The body is a self-healing and self-regulating entity. The role of the practitioner is seen as assisting and facilitating this inherent healing intelligence.”
